My first experience eating bak kut teh at 10am in the morning. I could get used to this :p
Such an eventful month! Every one of them revolves around @timmyw90 ‘s family. Absolutely BLESSED! Thank you so much aunty and uncle! :D
They make me feel good about my feet, even when in walking :3
This booster from Candy Crush looks like Majimbu from Dragon Ball!
I’m too distracted to study right now due to obvious reasons. So many things happened in just one night because of General Election. All the time wasted on waiting for the results, the scandals, lies, cheats and most of all, disappointments.
So, while a lot of people are complaining and expressing their feelings about GE13, I’m NOT gonna do the same. Too much heartbreak to handle. What I will be talking about though is why have I been MIA for these couple weeks. :)
Simply put, I had dengue.
WARNING! This will be a lengthy post.
At first it was Tim who had it. Then somehow I guess the mosquitoes who bit him bit me too, because he had the antigen in his body. I didn’t notice it at first. I thought I just had a normal fever due to lack of sleep and over-tiring myself. I could still go to classes, walk, eat, drink. The symptoms wasn’t apparent enough for me to realise that I had dengue too.
We started to suspect that I had it too because the symptoms I was having was too similar with what Tim had. So, I finally decided to go for a blood test at the end of the week with Tim in the hospital. I debated with myself for taking the blood test because I was afraid as I’ve never been drawn blood before. But for my LIFE’S SAKE, it must be done.
Thank God the doctor was gentle and good with needles. I barely felt any pain, and I guess he pitied me because he saw how scared I was. I got the results 2 hours later.
My platelet was at 146. We didn’t know if it was dropping or not because I had nothing to compare it with. So, I went to the nearest clinic for blood tests everyday. My blood count was in a dropping trend. From 146 to 131 and finally 99. The normal blood count a person should have is between 150 to 450.
It was such an emotional breakdown each time I got the results.
As days gone by, I slowly recovered. My white blood cells fought and won the battle! There’s no medicines for dengue, FYI. It depends solely on your body immune system. I mean, you can buy all the food and drinks to boost your blood count up, but in the end your body needs to fight for itself.
I wanna say thank you for all the people who prayed for Tim and I. Thank you Cynthia and Janice for the papaya leaves. Thank you Tim’s uncle for buying crab soup for us. Thank you Vern for being here with us. Sorry for being a party pooper. :( You DID plan to come here to have fun. Initially. I hope you did anyway. :)
Thank You God for all these people who prayed for us. They are without a doubt, a huge blessing in our lives. Thank You for putting them in our lives.
For those who think that mosquitoes are harmless, and all the precautions to prevent aedes mosquitoes are unnecessary, THEY COULD KILL YOU.
Tim and I both suffered from high fever. His temperature actually reached 40 degree Celsius If that’s not serious, idk what is. We both did not have appetite to eat at all. Our body was sore and aching. Headaches that makes it so hard to sleep and rest. Worrying all the time if our blood count is dropping. THIS IS SERIOUS POOP MAN. You could die if your platelet falls beneath a certain level. Internal bleeding might just happen and everything will become hectic and chaotic and all the needless panicking will make it all worse.
Here are some information you should know:
If you’re wondering why can’t you eat pain killers and antibiotics, that’s because they will cause your platelet to drop.
So to all people out there, please take at least 10 minutes of your time to clean your house. Whatever stagnant water laying around, pour and clear it away. Simple as that.
Your life is more precious than that 10 minutes of your time.
Tim’s mum made nacho dip! :D Omnomnom. Such a great snack while all the chaos is going on.
To celebrate our 3rd Anniversary that’s looooong overdue. Had a nice dinner at Manhattan Fish Market. :)
Our problem is not that my country is failing to live Christianly, but that the church is failing to live as God’s holy nation. — Mike Wittmer
Kids - all they have to worry about is if they could swing higher than their friends.
I had the recipe, and all the ingredients and steps written down. Bought ‘em and made them yesterday. I had limited tools in making it, but have no fear! I have a whisk and a spatula!
The whisk is my most trusted tool. From simple 2 whole eggs, 2 egg yolks and sugar, I whisked it into THIS:
AMAZIZIZIZINGGGGG. No beater or whatsoever needed!
My arm was kind of sore after that. Thank God Tim helped whisk too. MORE MUSCLE POWER!
So after chilling, and baking, we started eating. Too bad I baked it too long. There was no gooey chocolate on the inside, except for one though. But it was only a small portion that was gooey. D:
The other 3 became a cake. It wasn’t gooey, but at least it was moist? :D
So technically I failed making Chocolate Lava Cake, but I did succeed in making a Chocolate Cake. *positive thinking*
Cheers to more desserts to come!
The last written post was about work, so I’ll continue with that before talking about Sem 3.
A week before my one month was up, the manager suddenly gave me a bunch of things to do. Luckily for me, I get to bring the work home and i naturally work fast anyway so I managed to finish it in time. 2 days before I leave, I told the manager my time is almost up. She didn’t even realized I worked for almost a month already. Utterly shocked.
She then asked for my name and IC number so she can ask the boss for a check. YAY, A CHECK!! Smiling with glee, I head back to my seat. Held my check and squeal. TEEHEE. The other employees laughed at me for acting like a fool, haha.
All of them treated me very well, so I decided to buy a gift for them. I actually wanted to get some eye masks, ‘cause you know, they stare at the computer screen for the whole day. But then I’m afraid that will be embarrassing. So I picked the most suitable gift I can think of - KITKAT. “Have a break. Have a kitkat.” ;)
It was quite embarrassing as well to give them individually to show my gratitude and sincerity, but I guess it’s not equally embarrassing as giving eye masks!
Left the office for good, I went home and started to prepare myself to leave yet another time, but this time around, I’m leaving home.
That’s about work. Now, SEMESTER 3.
My friends and I decided to take up an elective subject to lessen the burden during our last sem, and of course the fees is much cheaper now compared to the next 2 years. Every year they will increase 7% of the fees and whatever facilities they own - gym, hostel rent.
The elective subject I chose was AutoCAD. Never in my entire I would imagine taking AutoCAD. I know what it can do and how it will help it certain situations, but the whole idea about it is intimidating. With all the technicalities, codes, commands, tools, you really have no clue about it at first glance. I was thinking about taking other subjects, but I really don’t wanna do any more presentations or reports. AutoCAD it is then.
To be honest, it’s not so bad. It is meticulously interesting. I guess the only person that says that are people like me. I like details. The program allows you to make straight lines, perfect circles and squares, curves. I find great bliss using it, even though is can be so frustrating at times. Maybe only the basics are fun, who knows. It’s truly fascinating and brings such enjoyment. :D It perfectly sits in well with my mediocre OCD.
On other subjects though, I have trouble concentrating in class. My concentration level has gone from, say, 8 to 5. I’ve been trying to read books, eat raisins and do some exercises to work my body and brain. It seems to be working slowly, I think.
I also tire easily nowadays. God knows why. I constantly need naps, and if I don’t nap, I get these annoying headaches or migraines that comes whenever it fits its timing. Sleeping more doesn’t really help.
Throbbing head and spacing out. Such a terrible combination to attend a lecture. I hope I’ll find a way to reduce it, at least. Assignments are coming in quick, and I can’t constantly have these bugs pestering me.
Pleasant day and sweet dreams. That’s what I want too.
Dinner! Mastermind behind this is @eilvane ! Want some? Make friends with her! Carbonara with tomato basil soup :3
The mosquito killer! @chowngeelo
